Rojas Colon Hydrotherapy: A Professional Resource for Practitioners
At Bottoms Up Colonics, we specialise in Rojas Colon Hydrotherapy. A gentle, therapist-led, water-based therapy that supports digestion, elimination, cellular hydration, and overall gut-brain-body balance.
With more than twenty years of experience, Bottoms Up Colonics has grown into a national network of trained therapists, grounded in a shared commitment to safety, education, professionalism, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Our work is based on the belief that the colon is not only a channel of elimination, but a vital foundation for whole-body wellness.
We care for a wide range of clients, from children to the elderly, including those with chronic, complex, or functional health conditions. Our therapists are trained to provide client-centred care while also working in partnership with general practitioners, naturopaths, gastroenterologists, integrative and functional medicine doctors, allied health providers, and specialists to support their patients' outcomes within a broader therapeutic framework.
This page is designed to offer clarity, confidence, and clinical insight for health professionals who want to better understand what Rojas Colon Hydrotherapy is, how it works, and how it can safely and effectively complement your care plans.

Our certified therapists apply professional judgement, adhere to clinical protocols, and maintain clear, respectful communication to ensure clients feel informed, supported, and confident in the care they receive.
We understand the responsibility that comes with working with complex or chronically unwell clients, and we honour that responsibility with diligence, clinical awareness, and a collaborative mindset, always supporting your work as their primary practitioner.
Closed vs Open Colon Hydrotherapy
Therapist-led and fully supported
Therapist-led, fully supported approach
Small speculum connected to inlet and outlet tubing
Highest standards of hygiene and privacy
Therapist remains present throughout the session
Educational, supportive experience
Independent and less supported
Client inserts rectal tube themselves
Client manages process independently
Elimination into an open basin
Clients may feel unsupported or unsure
Less educational and supportive
At Bottoms Up Colonics, we exclusively use a closed system through the Rojas method. A therapist-led, fully supported approach to Rojas Colon Hydrotherapy.
During a session, the client lies comfortably while a certified practitioner gently inserts a small speculum into the rectum. This speculum is connected to inlet and outlet tubing, allowing filtered and structured water to circulate through the colon and waste to be removed discreetly via a closed system.
This ensures the highest standards of hygiene, privacy, and comfort. The therapist remains present throughout the session, monitoring flow, supporting the release, and providing real-time feedback, helping clients build body awareness and better understand their digestive patterns.
By contrast, open colon hydrotherapy involves the client inserting a rectal tube themselves and managing the process independently. While open systems may suit some individuals, they can leave clients feeling unsupported, unsure, or unclear about what they're experiencing.
At Bottoms Up Colonics, we believe in the value of hands-on, guided care. The Rojas method ensures each session is safe, compassionate, and educational, supporting both physical comfort and emotional confidence every step of the way.
Our Approach: What Makes Rojas Colon Hydrotherapy Different?
At Bottoms Up Colonics, our focus is on cellular hydration, not forceful elimination. The Rojas method uses a gentle, responsive fill-and-release technique designed to work with the body, not against it.
Unlike techniques that rely on aggressive filling or abdominal pressure to provoke release, the Rojas technique prioritises deep hydration to naturally encourage elimination and restore balance.
Key Elements of the Rojas Approach
A slow, gentle fill-and-release technique, guided by the body, not force or pressure
Practitioners remain present throughout the session, offering reassurance, education, and support
Use of triple-filtered water to ensure purity and client safety
All equipment is single-use, BPA-free, and FDA/TGA-approved, maintaining strict hygiene standards
A small, smooth speculum is gently inserted into the rectum only. It does not enter or extend into the bowel.
Designed to work in synergy with the digestive, lymphatic, and nervous systems
Supports cellular hydration, elimination, and whole-body restoration
Each session is paired with hydration guidance, nutritional insight, and personalised support plans
This method is not about purging. It’s about restoring the natural rhythm of elimination through hydration, nervous system regulation, and practitioner-guided care.
